Fred Thomas - SurFace – Faces on Found Surfaces

A Fred Thomas Solo Exhibition

The construction and selection of Thomas’s works add another layer to the depth of the work. Tin sheets, wooden scraps, metal fasteners and traditional fabric canvas are mixed in varying sizes and qualities to be used as canvases for each of the works. The natural blemishes and imperfections of these canvases bring out the emotions of the characters that Thomas paints. He takes unwanted or discarded materials and transforms and recycles them into new works that are stunning examples as to how graffiti has been transformed into a vibrant and respected art form.
